Book Review

•
I found a book at a bookstore with the word 'Inspiration' printed in large letters, and inside, I saw a copy of a demolition company truck.
We will waterproof even your sad tears. We will even remove your aching heart.

Having run a space rental business for a long time, I have seen the commercial districts around my space collapse due to COVID-19, and recently, I have witnessed many shops closing down due to business difficulties. Perhaps because of these experiences, this phrase resonated with me.
Each page contained insights from a different author, and I personally felt that I gained a lot of inspiration as I read through them.

📙 P95. Advice from someone who has done it: When I replied that it seemed too late to do it now, he said, "I started in my 40s, too. I did it, didn't I?"
It seems that once people reach their 30s, many think, "It's too late to start something now." There are also many who blame their age for their fear of new challenges, saying, "If I were in my 20s, I would have tried all sorts of things by now." In an era where we can expect an average lifespan of 120, I find myself wondering, aren't people in their 30s still just kids? Haha.

📙 P104. Fear is the desire to do: Being 'afraid' is proof that you want to do something. When you have a wish, you feel the emotion of fear along with it. Because that means you want to do it well.
To me, fear was something to be discarded. It was so good to find the positive aspects, rather than the negative ones, in that fear.
There is something similar in the sayings of Laozi as well.
Depressed people live in the past,
An anxious person lives in the future,
A peaceful person lives in the present.
Although I am currently living a relatively peaceful life, I always feel anxious and afraid when I envision the future. It seems I am constantly trying, striving, and struggling to get rid of these feelings.
Seeing the phrase "Fear is the desire to do" made me realize that I am trying to live a life of continuous development and progress rather than settling for the status quo, and it brought me some comfort.

📙 P155. 'Fun' Feeds the World! : The value of 'fun' is by no means a trivial pleasure or a small existence. It is a value in itself. After all, we have seen many instances where fun changes the world. (...) If asked, "Does fun feed you?" let's answer confidently: Yes!!!
For a long time, I have been working on many side projects and side jobs alongside my main job. My criterion for these 'side activities' was 'fun.' Even if the work was somewhat lucrative, it was difficult to sustain if it wasn't fun. Conversely, even if it wasn't very profitable, I could continue if it was enjoyable.
The space rental business I have been running as a side hustle for a long time started as a hobby and for fun. Even though the profit wasn't high compared to my labor, I was able to happily continue it for years because it was enjoyable.
As a result, one of the spaces I managed achieved a significant success by ranking in the top 3 nationwide for reservation rates on the booking platform SpaceCloud. (Sudden bragging 😂)
I was able to achieve results because I started for 'fun' and continued consistently. As expected, 'fun' is still my priority.

📙 P255. Not Defining Myself by a Single Title: "I do a lot of work. Even when introducing myself, I use a title appropriate for the situation." From CEO Kim Jae-won's introduction.
Before I left my job, I could introduce myself to someone in a single word or sentence. Introducing myself was very easy for me.
After quitting my job, I lived as a freelancer and a multi-jobber. I was always worried about how to explain myself when introducing myself. Because I disliked having to go on and on with explanations, there were times when I would just gloss over it by saying, "I'm an unemployed person who quit my job."
However, after hearing CEO Kim Jae-won’s way of introducing himself, I thought, "That’s quite a sophisticated way of introducing yourself."
