Big-name developers Mario Zeckner and Armin Ronacher claimed that the excessive adoption of AI coding tools is leading to a surge in 'bad code'.
The expression 'vibe slop' emerged to describe this.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 22nd (local time), they pointed out that software that is unsustainable in the long term is being mass-produced as developers instruct AI to "make it roughly" while skipping core engineering processes such as system design and testing.
"The current infrastructure is collapsing, and software has far more bugs than before," said Zeckner. "We might be able to hold out like this for a few more months or years, but eventually, we will pay the price."
