Book Review

•
I had many bad habits in the past. If I were to list them one by one, they would probably fill this entire page and then some.
However, I have now corrected a significant number of those bad habits. As I constantly thought about and pondered ways to steer the life I wanted—whether to become a little happier, gain a little more wealth, or have a little more free time—I think I was naturally able to discard bad habits and cultivate good ones.
•
This book also states that in order to form habits, one must check for oneself what one thinks about throughout the day and what one needs to focus on for a better life. It asserts that the habits formed in this way determine one's character, and that character, in turn, determines one's future.
📙 P52. Thoughts move toward a goal; a goal advances in action; action comes from habit; habit determines character; therefore, our goal is determined by character.
•
And they say that we must always think about the future from a long-term perspective.
📙 P67. You must cultivate a habit of thinking "backward from the future." When you think this way, you first imagine an ideal outcome in the future. Then, you turn your gaze back to the present and ask yourself, "What must I do starting today to open up the ideal future I yearn for?"
You must cultivate the habit of maintaining a "long-term perspective." Do not constantly focus on the moment to make quick profits and be satisfied with them; instead, you must think long-term about what you want and where you want to go.

📘 Lifelong learning is also an indispensable and important element of success.
The author suggested three methods for lifelong learning: (1) reading a book every morning, (2) learning from experts, and (3) turning the inside of a car into a university. In modern society, anyone can live their entire life repeating these three things if they have the will. There are countless books in bookstores and public libraries, and one can listen to seminars, lectures, and talks by numerous experts in both the online and offline worlds. If one puts in the effort, there are also many opportunities for direct interaction. By utilizing podcasts, YouTube, and various apps, one can listen to a wealth of useful information while driving, much like listening to the radio.

The author states that to become a millionaire, one must become a "rich person who builds wealth through compound interest" rather than a "rich person who gets rich overnight."
📙 P107. Most great wealth is achieved slowly. There are no overnight millionaires. Wealth follows the law of compound interest, which Albert Einstein called "the strongest force in the universe." 99% of people who have become wealthy have slowly built their wealth over a long period of time through the increase of compound interest.

Regarding CEO habits, particularly the self-employed mindset, speed and flexibility were emphasized.
📙 P142. Respond quickly to opportunities and problems, and act swiftly to ensure customer satisfaction. (...) Furthermore, the self-employment spirit requires the habit of flexibility. Try. Try again. Be willing to try something different. The most important thing to attempt in business is not to succeed the first time, but to try again two or three times.
📙 P143. All self-employment eventually succeeds by doing something different from the early stages of starting.

In addition to this, there are many other things worth remembering. These include the habits of popular people, healthy people, and leaders. Throughout the book, there is content valuable for applying to real life. I think this book can be called the "standard text in the field of self-development," much like the "Standard Textbook of Mathematics."
