Book Review

•
A few years ago, while living on Jeju Island for a month, I discovered this book in a shared library at an accommodation. I didn't have time to read it all, so I think I just stood there and skimmed through it for about five minutes. In the process, a sentence underlined with a highlighter caught my eye.
•
📙 'It's okay if you're not ordinary, not average, or even an eccentric person.'
•
I do not like being 'ordinary.' The same goes for the word 'average.' Ever since I was young, I intensely disliked becoming an ordinary person. Whether studying, working, or doing anything else, I think I always thought, 'I have to be different from others,' rather than 'I have to be better than others.' I was an eccentric person.
•
When I saw that sentence in the book, I felt as if it were cheering on my 'uniqueness.' I couldn't finish reading the book, but that feeling alone was enough.
